Safer Homes is a project run by Bishop Creighton House to help families make their homes safer and reduce the risk of their children having an accident at home. We carry out an assessment, offer advice and provide and fit necessary safety equipment free of charge for eligible families living in H&F.
We are looking for volunteers who are friendly, observant and with a keen interest in helping families with young children. Our volunteers need to be happy to work on their own although support is provided by our home safety advisor.
Assessments are carried out by video link and are arranged at a time to suit both the families we are supporting and our volunteers. Our volunteers will identify possible safety risks to children within the home, provide advice about how to reduce those risks and then recommend which child safety equipment would be of benefit to the family. This equipment is then fitted by our handyperson.
This volunteering opportunity could provide a valuable and rewarding experience for those wishing to pursue a career in a child or social care.
All necessary training is given although some previous experience of looking after young children is required.
